It's been awhile

This summer has been very stressful in library world, with budget cuts, hour reductions, layoffs, etc. It's not over yet. Cutbacks are necessary--the money just isn't there for us to keep doing all the things we've done (and done well) in the past. This leads me to wonder, just what is the job of a library? C'mon, if you went to Library School you took the Foundations classes that gave us the background as to what libraries have BEEN. If you use a library, you know what the library is to you. If you work at a library, you know what you'd like the library to be--well let me know what you think!

Happy, Hopeful New Year

It's a brand-new year...well actually it's been here for 3 whole weeks. I'm inspired by the attitude of cooperation and possibilities that the inauguration of a new President seems to have inspired, and I hope to do my best to participate in this renewed spirit.
